FIFA World CUP 2010 - Africa Hosts the World

The Federation of International Football Associations - FIFA 2010 World cup holds it's 19th edition in South Africa between June 11 and July 11. This is going to be the first ever FIFA world cup to be held in Africa. And Africa is excited, it promises to be a lot of fun as all Africa is joining hands with South AFrica, the host nation to make it a memorable tournament. Africa wants to use this opportunity to show the world it can deliver if given the opportunity.

The venues and stadiums are ready and the police this week had a parade to show criminals and hooligans they're prepared to ensure safety of lives and properties of all South Africans and visitors to this year's mundial. SADC - Southern Africa Development Community countries also have perfected plans to cash-in and sell themselves as tourist destinations during the world cup. The people of South Africa are ready to celebrate in the newly developed fan villages and to show South African hospitality to the world, the nations of Africa are also ready to join hands and say "Welcome to Africa".

Football, funly called "The king of Sports" has the highest number of participating countries of any single sport. 208 FIFA national teams in total from which 32 teams qualified from the regional qualifying series which started since August 2007. These national teams will play in 8 groups in 10 venues throughout South Africa. Kick off is on July 11th between host nation, South Africa and Mexico and the final is July 11 at the Johannesburg Soccer City Stadium.

African Festa 2010 in Yokohama

The African festa 2010 is an annual festival jointly organized by Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs - MOFA, African Embassies in Japan, Companies and Organizations supporting the African continent. This year’s African Festa 2010 in Yokohama will feature exhitions by NGOs, CSOs and voluntary organizations working on Africa. There will also be stands and booths for African arts and crafts, African foods and drinks; with stage performances by various Japanese and African musicians.
